“SELECTED POEMS” written by EMMA MAXWELL

BIO POEM:
Emma
Energetic, joyful, caring, silly
Sibling of Luke and Sophie
Lover of mom, dad, siblings, pets
Who feels that animals make you feel better
Who needs to calm down
Who gives love to the family
Who fears homework, big snakes, and venomous bugs
Who would like to see the calendar say June
Resident of Buffalo
Maxwell

SIMILE POEM:

A tiger is as fierce as a massive and angry mother T-rex.
A bird is as free as a zebra let out of its cage at the zoo.
Summer is as joyful as a child in bed on Christmas Eve.
The slug was as slow as a turtle with a broken leg.
The puppy was as wiggly as a worm on soft dirt.
The child was as mischievous as a hamster with a room full of tunnels.

SIMILE/SYNONYM POEMS:

LIGHT

Underweight, scant, sparse, slender.  As light as a famished lizard.

INSANE
Mad, crazed, lunatic, deranged, mental.  As crazy as an extremely stressed teacher.

HATE
Detest, loathe, dislike, scorn.  As hateful as a cat and dog fight.

FEAR
Terror, dread, phobia, dismay.  As fearful as a child about to take a test.

AWFUL
Grievous, atrocious, disgraceful, gruesome.  As awful as President Bush.

THE MOP

A jellyfish with a stick on its head,
Cleans in my kitchen and around my bed.
I drown him in a bucket of suds’,
then he will clean up all types of muds.

METAPHORS
1.    Happiness is chocolate cake.
2.    Loneliness is a dark tunnel.
3.    Fear is 7 zillion razor sharp teeth pointing at you.
4.    Embarrassment is falling flat on your face.
5.    Love is blooming roses.
6.    Courage is a macho guy with a cape.

CAN YOU IMAGINE…???
A flower without a petal
Nails with no metal

A trip and a slip without a fall
A home without a single wall

A cloud with no white
Two boys without a fight

A world with no sea
A pod with no pea

A car without a ride
A lion without pride

A world without a mountain
A park with no fountain

A child in no trouble
Soap without a bubble?

I HEAR THE GARDEN SINGING…
I hear the garden singing
I hear the tree branch swinging
I hear the red rose growing
I hear the gardener mowing
I hear the blue bird dancing
I hear the rabbit prancing
I hear the long hose spitting
I hear the spider knitting
I hear the pink worms wiggling
I hear the brown mud jiggling
I hear the birdbath splashing
I hear the chipmunk dashing
I hear the garden singing
